While some couples seek to hold grand, elaborate weddings to celebrate their union, many opt for smaller, more intimate events with only close friends and family in attendance. Alanna fell into this latter camp when planning her wedding with Chris.

Alanna is an easygoing spirit with a love for fun and family. I've been lucky enough to know her as both a client and a friend since 2008, and was honored when she reached out to me about photographing her wedding. Rather than submitting to tradition, she made the wedding entirely her own, seeing it as more of a party than an actual wedding. Alanna's personality was reflected in the casual, fun atmosphere of the day, which featured party games, a surprise appearance from a favorite band of Chris's kids, and a parade of food culminating in loaded fries from Pinky D’s Poutine Factory (pictured above). The use of Alanna and Chris's lakeside home rather than a traditional event venue further enhanced the relaxed party atmosphere.

Alanna was also sure to consider the environment in her planning, and opted to provide guests with stainless steel reusable mugs as party favors in order to mitigate plastic waste.
