As I was editing this shoot I was thinking about what this shoot meant. Often parents, especially moms, contact me for a shoot of their family, mostly of their kids. They do this because kids change so quickly and we want to document that time as it is temporary. We get it, but what gets over looked in photo documentation is the parents. As I looked at this shoot, I thought how important for Brooke to do this for her new business, because not only is the business important and having QUALITY photos is important, but so is documenting her life. As a mom myself of age 44, I can definitely say, I have changed right along with my 11 year old daughter. I am not the same person I was 10 years ago, and neither are lots of other adults. A photoshoot for grown ups is important too. As I look through the many images of Brooke with or without her family, I see many sides to her. There are different expressions that represent the many different facets of her. There will be shots that are perfect for her new website and publicity materials, and there are shots that are perfect for her husband to have in his office. I am sure there are even shots her parents will love too. While we were shooting I was focused at times in engaging her for shots that would be perfect for the business, but in other times, I just wanted Brooke to be Brooke. A photo shoot is not something she normally does. She told me she was nervous and excited. I got it, it is not something most moms do! And honestly that made it even better because she didn't have a script of a look she was going to give me. I got it all, which as a photographer we like when people work with us like Brooke and her whole supportive family. Being photographed is team work 100%. Here are some of the many shots I got featuring Brooke from our 2 hours together on a beautiful Maine morning on Cousins Island. I will share the awesome photos of her kids on another blog post.
This is a full business profile shoot. The shoot took a few phone calls of planning and sharing of ideas and what was needed and desired. The actual shoot took a little over 2 hours. Business Profile shoots currently begin at $500.Headshot begins at $200 for a half hour shoot.
