Jake's Senior Photos in Augusta Maine
He is that rare guy who planned out his senior photos, from locations, to looks to the special ladies he wanted there!
It's not often I photograph guys who enjoy having their picture taken, but Jakob did! Jakob's exceptional, and I can say that because I know him, and he is my nephew. I can remember when I could pick him up and carry him around. Those days are over! We did Jakob's senior photoshoot in Augusta. We began at the State house because both him and his mother like the architecture and the park. It was a hot day so we began later in the day. His girlfriend Jenna and his mom helped carry his different outfits so he wouldn't have to break out in a sweat! Nothing worse than being red in the face and sweaty and getting your portrait taken. My sister, his mother, had ironed all his clothes like I asked her too, because wrinkly clothes on a portrait is also no bueno! I think their whole day was spent getting ready for the shoot , and I am not sure who enjoyed it more my sister, or Jakob!
The sun was setting and I was thinking we had gotten a lot of great photos. We were all parched and hungry but Jakob really wanted some pictures down by the river fishing. So we went down to the river and I am really glad we did. The water was so calm and it was just a nice place to be at the end of a summer day, not to mention take beautiful pictures. For the fishing pictures Jakob wore his flannel.
Jakob wanted photos with his mom and Jenna on the shoot. When Jenna was around there was an entirely different smile on his WHOLE face. I would call it beaming, others might call it love. Jenna is off to college this year, and they are planning to still date. In fact, 1 minute after Jakob logged into his photo gallery, Jenna did too!
It is an important time to document and create pictures. I am so glad that yearbooks are still printed and they require photos of each senior beyond the standard school pictures taken every year prior. Senior portraits can be whatever someone wants them to be. It is worth taking the time planning out locations and outfits. I am all about photographing someone as themselves. I am not an advocate of transforming oneself for a shoot with too much make-up and or airbrushing. I offer a thorough shoot with quality to capturing and creating images that will authentically represent you.
If you are interested in a senior shoot, contact me now for a shoot. Most pictures are due in October, so the time is now!

Sheryl - Thank you, Sharyn, for creating such a variety of images from which we can choose! And having Jenna there to bring that smile to his eyes was a great idea. Thank you for both listening to what we wanted and for making suggestions for poses we hadn't considered.
I can't wait to have these images on my walls and wrapped as Christmas presents!
