I titled this blog "Portraits of a Mom" because that is what Ellen is. But she is more than just a mom and our goal was to show all the sides of Ellen, who lives and works in New York City but loves her time low key time in Maine too.
Traditionally in life people get a baby photo, school photos, senior photos, and then wedding photos. After that there is hopefully family photos, but often the emphasis is on the children, not so much the parents. There comes a time in one's life, as an adult where a shoot for ourselves is important too. The reason for booking a session maybe a simple one, and what can happen can go beyond a simple headshot. If you see a trend, I have been photographing moms who need photos who are starting a new business or adventure! I think it is a great time in one's life for a shoot. Ellen contacted me because she knew me when I photographed her brother's wedding in 2007. On her summer trip in Maine we did a shoot with the help of her brother, and beautiful son and niece. It was a great night for us all. Being outside on a Maine summer night is a great thing to do in and of itself. I am so pleased with the experience and outcome. I aim to capture the many sides of who we are and I feel Ellen and I did just that together.
