Healthy Kids Day at the Casco Bay YMCA
The YMCA's goal for Healthy Kids Day was " to inspire kids and families to engage and be healthy throughout the summer"!
I think that is a GREAT goal!
I volunteered to photograph the YMCA Healthy Kids Day on April 21st, the morning before my daughter's 12th birthday. I am a huge fan of what the YMCA stands for in the community and communities across our country. My photos are to be used for the YMCA to promote their healthy lifestyle's agenda and to share with the families who participated. At the beginning of the event, I greeted people as they checked in and asked if they wanted to have a family photo taken. Many did! It was a time spent together for about 1 minute but the smiling faces and the love the parents have for their children is evident.
I appreciated all the ways different vendors engaged with the children, from planting to making their own stress balls. I asked some of the kids if they needed to make one for their mom, and their eyes would get big and they would say YES! Getting photos in the bouncy house, I did let some of the older kids show off their air born skills when there were no little ones inside. These kids would be perfect for my kids' photo shoot #sharynpeaveykids! They loved having their pictures taken professionally and could have kept my camera time longer if I didn't have many other faces to capture.

I insisted on getting this image with their son. Not only did they make awesome Rocket Kabobs for all the kids, they make the best burgers in the area at DIRIGO (Yarmouth)!
