First Annual Holiday Pet Portrait Fundraiser
I partnered with Pet Pantry and Visit Freeport's Sparkle Week to help raise money and awareness for Midcoast Humane by hosting a Holiday Pet Portrait Fundraiser Event. Pet Pantry was kind to share their space for the event. Sparkle week was happening that week and I thought it was a great opportunity to add to the festive fun— everyone was already in a festive spirit. To get the word around, an eye-popping flyer was created. The flyers were hung around the greater of Freeport. On social media, Facebook and Instagram stories and posts were made. My partners, Pet Pantry and Midcoast Humane reshared the posts, as so did many other locals. Soon enough, my fundraiser event was fully booked. In the morning of the event, Pet Pantry staff had cleared space for me to the red backdrop, lights, and my computer system. Pet Pantry provided the photoshoot with treat incentives, and a squeaky toy to catch pets attention. Throughout the day it was so rewarding seeing the excitement on peoples' faces as I photographed their pets and exchanged adoption stories. The News Center of Maine did a story on the event, and Pearl Small did an amazing job capturing the moment. She interviewed me and a couple of the participants, and it was heartwarming to see her work live on TV later that night.
Thank you Pearl Small and News Center of Maine for sharing my Holiday Pet Portrait Fundraiser event. I also want to thankPet Pantry for sharing their space and staff for the photoshoot.
Thank you everybody bringing their pets in— it was lovely meeting you all. I am excited to watch News Center of Maine tonight to help raise awareness for Midcoast Humane, giving shelter animals a second chance finding a forever home.
And lastly, a shoutout to Visit Freeortt in their efforts of creating community.
