Hannah's Surprise Engagement Proposal at Portland Headlight!
Matt was very excited I was available to photograph on his planned engagement day. He had the ring stashed at his parent's house so there was no accidental chance Hannah could find it. We text that week to confirm the time and the weather looked great! Matt wanted a beautiful sunset at Portland Headlight, they love that location, and that is just what they got!
Matt selected the exact place where he wanted to propose to Hannah and sent me a picture. My plan was to photograph Lucia, my lovely assistant for the day, and pretend it was her senior photo shoot. Right before he left he sent me what they were wearing, and clearly a guy who loves to take pictures with his lady, which I respect! Lucia and I had a code word for when either of us some them coming down the trail. The code was "look at the sunset". Within seconds of Matt getting to the designated proposal location with Hannah, Matt wasted no time, he got right to it and got down on one knee!
What is so cute is after he proposed and we took photos they walked off together to enjoy the park some more. It was all smiles from the two of them!
Matt & Hannah's Love Story
shared to me by Matt!
"Hannah is funny, energetic and full of life. She is very caring and has a huge heart (she would adopt every stray dog / rescue we see if she had her way). She has a bubbly personality and is down to earth. Hannah also loves making TikTok about her work and with her Grandma!
We have dated for 2 years. We met February 22, 2021 at Lucy's American Tavern in Dorchester, MA. It was a Monday night and I was out to dinner with a friend of mine and we were sitting at the bar enjoying our meals when I saw Hannah and her friend, Taylor, walk in and sit down at a booth to have some drinks. I went to use the restroom and walked by their table and smiled at Hannah but did not say anything. When Hannah and Taylor were leaving, they came up to the bar where we were sitting and chatted us up. We had some drinks and she gave me her number on the back of the receipt (it is now framed and is on the bookshelf in our condo). The next day I texted Hannah and asked her to go on a date that Friday! At the time, I was out injured from work and Hannah had the next day off because of her schedule. I am a State Trooper and Hannah is a nurse so our odd schedules lined up and she was able to nurse me back to health! Kind of cliché! But we did go on that date and here we are now!
We have a black Labrador Retriever that we rescued. Her name is Lucy and she just turned a year old. She is named after the bar (Lucy’s) that we met at. Unfortunately, Lucy will not be making the trip from MA for the big day but she will be there in spirit."
~Thank you for sharing your story Matt, it is an awesome one! SP
